Red wine. Pic Saint Loup, Languedoc, France. Biodynamic. 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre. Christophe Peyrus is the talented wine maker behind Clos Marie. The domaine is in the Pic Saint Loup appellation to the north of Montpellier. His wines are found in Michelin-starred restaurants throughout France. The L’Olivette is a belnd of Grenache and Syrah from 15- to 25-year-old vines and Mourvedre from 60+-year-old-vines. This is a versatile red with fine tannins, and good acidity. It shows flavors of cherries, frais de bois, and black olive, with hints of smoke, baking spices, roses, and orange peel. It would pair particularly well with lamb daube, duck with five spice, and Moroccan cuisine.
