Red wine. Maranges, Burgundy, France. Sustainable. 100% Pinot Noir. From a parcel of Le Goty that directly abuts Santenay Charmes. The age of the vines (planted in 1945) and the winemaking techniques give this Maranges much more depth than is typical for the appellation. Aging is in 20-30% new barrel. Look for a delicate expression of red fruits (strawberry, cherry, and raspberry), with spices and savory herbs. Well structured the wine shows tannins from both stems and barrel but they are not overbearing. This would pair well with game birds in general and a crispy duck confit with lentils in particular.
