  • Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf-Du-Pape 2018
    $60.00
Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. 85% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Vaccarèse, 5% Syrah. Organic. "Dark glistening red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, baking spices, garrigue and candied flowers, and a smoky mineral flourish appears as the wine opens up. Sappy, sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry and lavender pastille flavors joined by hints of allspice and bitter chocolate. Smooth and seamless in texture, showing superb finishing clarity, gently gripping tannins and strong, spicy persistence. This is a somewhat more brawny wine than usual for Laurent Charvin, but it still retains the domaine's trademark balance and energy." — 94-96 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous (December 2019)

  • Domaine Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvee Imperiale 2018
    $70.00
Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. Biodynamic. 90% Grenache, Field blend. "Most of the vInes for the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale were planted in 1902, mainly Grenache, with a few other scattered plants of other varieties. Full-bodied and concentrated, it boasts massive flavors of raspberries and cherries, with just enough herbal intricacies woven into the fabric of the wine to impart a sense of lightness and freshness—it positively tingles on the long, long finish. Produced from biodynamically grown fruit at yields just half the maximum permitted by the appellation (16–18 hectoliters per hectare, versus 35), it's a tremendous effort." — 97 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (Sep. 2020)

  • Chapelle St Theodoric Chateauneuf-Du-Pape 'La Guigasse' 2018
    $83.00
Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. Organic. 100% Grenache. "Tasted from a one-year-old barrel, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape La Guigasse looks capable of rivaling (surpassing?) the 2016. Lovely garrigue-like nuances accent perfectly ripe black cherries in this full-bodied, silky, tremendously long effort. It's just a wonderful, sexy beast of a Grenache grown in sandy soils." — 96-98 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate #244 (August 2019)

  • Chapelle St Theodoric Chateauneuf-Du-Pape 'Le Grand Pin' 2018
    $75.00
Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. Organic. 100% Grenache. "The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Grand Pin, tasted from barrel, explodes with floral and tea-like notes allied to red raspberries and strawberries. Full-bodied, but with an amazing lithe, delicate, silky structure, it looks to be another huge success for this pure Grenache cuvée." — 93-95 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate #244 (August 2019)

  • Domaine Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvee Girard 2018
    $45.00
Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. Biodynamic. 90% Grenache, 4% Mourvèdre, 4% Syrah, 2% Cinsault, 2% Counoise. "The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Girard hadn't been blended when I visited the estate last year, so this bottled sample was my first look at the cuvée for the American importer. It closely mirrors the regular bottling, but typically includes a bit more old-vine Grenache. The nose is similar, offering up hints of dried spices, earth and black cherries, but the feel on the full-bodied palate is richer and more enveloping, with a creamy-velvety texture that flows seamlessly onto the long, plush finish." — 93+ Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (Sep. 2020)
