Collection: Marc Plouzeau

Marc Plouzeau is one of Chinon's most prolific—and talented—winemakers. Thanks to the will of two generations, his family restored Chinon's Château de la Bonnelière to its once-noble status, as well as its original vocation: vineyards and wine.

In 1976, Pierre Plouzeau bought the family property, renovated the castle and replanted the vineyards. In 1989, a modern winery was born, along with a wine: "Chinon Château de la Bonnelière."

Pierre's son, Marc, took over the domain in 1999, continuing to develop, going fully organic, and perfecting the cellar. We're privileged to carry several Plouzeau cuvées from top-notch parcels, all offering outstanding quality and value.

White wine. Chinon, Loire Valley, France. Organic. 100% Chenin Blanc. A deep and intense bouquet of ripe fruits. Full-bodied, complex and elegant on the palate, with lovely creaminess and mineral tension, this is a well structured, pure and persistent Chenin Blanc with remarkable balance and elegance. The finish is long, fresh, and salty. This is a great wine to pair with creamier cheeses, and lighter fish dishes, like sole meuniére.

  • Marc Plouzeau Perles Fines Sparkling Brut Rosé NV
    $19.00
Sparkling wine. Chinon, Loire Valley, France. Organic. 100% Cabernet Franc. "Marc Plouzeau’s 'Perles Fines' Rosé Pétillant is a lovely wine, showing more elegance on the nose and palate than the 'Perle Sauvage' version. The bouquet shows lovely cabernet franc character in its mix of white cherries, a touch of tangerine, currant leaf, lovely soil tones and a bit of smokiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and very nicely balanced, with frothy mousse, a good core and nice length and grip on the vibrant finish. A tasty bottle of sparkling cabernet franc, with plenty of elegance." — 88 Points, John Gilman, View from the Cellar #59 (Sept./Oct. 2015)

  • Marc Plouzeau Sauvignon Touraine 2017
    $15.00

White wine. Touraine, Loire Valley, France. Organic. 100% Sauvignon Blanc. From chalky, flinty soils along the Cher, Marc Plouzeau has crafted a 2016 Touraine Sauvignon redolent of white peach and passion fruit; lean and quite dense; but finishing with refreshing juiciness, a saline tang, and hints of cherry pit and pistachio. Enjoy it over the next 12-15 months.

  • Marc Plouzeau Rive Gauche Chinon Rosé 2018 (FULL CASE)
    $108.00

Rosé wine. Chinon, Loire Valley, France. 100% Cabernet Franc. Organic. Cherry pit, red currant, pungent flowers and a suggestion of succulent herbs on the nose. Sappy and focused in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and orange flavors and a zesty hint of white pepper that adds back-end spiciness. Closes supple and long, featuring lingering florality and a sweet raspberry flourish. This wine has the heft to work with full-flavored food, but there's also a raciness that makes it extremely easy to drink by itself.
