Red wine. Piedmont, Italy. Sustainable. 100% Barbera. Bright ruby red. "The Barbera d’Asti “La Villa” from Tenuta Olim Bauda is made from vines planted in 1979 and 2000, so there is plenty of old vine fruit in this cuvée. The 2020 is pretty ripe at 14.5 percent octane and delivers a beautifully expressive nose of cherries, a touch of orange peel, peanuts, a complex base of soil, bonfire and just a hint of fresh oregano in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, ripe and tangy, with a lovely core of red fruit, good soil signature, just a touch of backend tannin and a long, complex finish. There is a touch of backend heat here, but the wine is pretty nicely balanced and a touch of chill mitigates the ripeness nicely and makes for a lovely drink. 2022-2030." — 89 Points, John Gilman, View From The Cellar #101 (September / October 2022)
