If you're looking for wines to get you through the seasonal transitions, the Loire Valley is the place to be.
That's why we held a springtime Loire Valley showcase in March... and it's why we're turning back to our all-star Loire producers this weekend for a tasting and sale featuring a line-up of spiced reds and stony whites perfect for autumn!
This time, we'll turn to an (almost) entirely different group of winemakers to deliver some fantastic cooler-weather wines.
The one holdover from our springtime tasting will be Pierre Morin, a passionate second generation vigneron who has been modestly producing top-notch wines for decades, whose 2015 Sancerre Ovide is crisp, expressive, and intensely mineral.
Venturing just outside Sancerre, we'll pour a 2017 Coteaux du Giennois rosé with lots of apricot and peach from Clement and Florian Berthier, as well as a creamy, balanced, 90-point Pouilly-Fumé from Serge Dagueneau.
Finally, we'll head to Chinon (Marc Plouzeau) and Bourgeuil (Yannick Amirault) for characteristically layered reds brimming with dark fruit, earthy, tobacco, and spice; and to Anjou (Chateau de Bois-Brincon) for a high-class white with flavors and aromas of stone fruit and citrus.
