It's an often-overlooked fact that, together, the Languedoc and the Roussillon account for a full third of France's wine production.
The Roussillon is the southernmost wine-producing region in France, sharing a border with Spain along the Mediterranean Sea. Just to the north lies the Languedoc, covering the area along the coast and all the way up to the Southern Rhône.
Both are known for hot summers and flavorful wines—fruity, peppery red blends made from Carignan, Cinsault, and the reliable southern French trio of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre; and lively, floral whites made from Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Bourboulenc, and Clairette.
In the hands of our portfolio producers—which include some of the region's most talented and highly acclaimed winemakers—those varieties come together in some of France's boldest, most flavorful wines that make for ideal autumn drinking.
Gerard Gauby is widely regarded as the king of biodynamic winemaking in southern France, and The Wine Advocate's Jeb Dunnuck called Domaine Gauby "one of the top estates in France."
