Wine Class: The Wines of Germany & Alsace

For our next Weygandt Wine class, we're not letting national borders stand in the way of our pursuit of delicious wine, elite terroirs, and truly talented winemakers.

That's because the wines we'll be pouring and talking about span the border between France and Germany, and carve out their own stylistic niche in the wine landscape that demands the attention of your mind and palate.

Join our own Ed Jenks at our tasting counter next Thursday evening, April 11 (and again on April 18), from 6-7:30pm for an exploration of the wines of Alsace and Germany, home to round, rich, terroir-expressive wines from some our most exciting producers—click here to reserve your spot!

While we'll pour excellent wines from a range of grape varieties, we'll take a close look at Riesling—the aromatic, floral, high-acid, and terroir-expressive grape that is the most widely grown variety in both Germany and Alsace.

In addition to becoming acquainted with some new grapes, you'll learn how Germany classifies its wines (the labels are a lot easier to read than you might think!), as well as the country's most exciting regions and top producers.

Finally, we'll spotlight some of our most highly regarded producers—the venerable Albert Mann and Bernard Schoffit in Alsace, and emerging talents Markus Huls and Axel Pauly in Germany.
