White wine. Loire Valley, France. Sustainable. 100% Melon de Bourgogne. From a 1.4ha parcel planted by Louis Gadais in the 1950's. Fermented half in single use 300L oak barrels and half in stainless steel tank. Aged 18 months on the lees. This exceptional Muscadet delivers a rich, polished palate impression while retaining vivacity and refreshment with its juicy ripe pear, citrus, and fresh ginger. Unlike a lot of Muscadet this is a wine that needs some air to really shine. The natural pairing for this wine would be for some type of lighter fish like cod or trout but it could stand up nicely against lighter Asian dishes, particularly ones that emphasize fresh flavors over fermented flavors.
