Red wine. Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France. Sustainable. 100% Pinot Noir. From a small parcel of 55-year-old vines. As with all Jeanniard’s red wines, there is whole-cluster fermentation done in barrel and the aging is in wood, 25% of which is new. The red fruited signature of the wine shows with flavors of cherry and raspberry, complementing that is an underlying smokiness and spice. The 2012 is coming into its own right now showing softer, elegant tannins with cherry, and raspberry fruit still present as well as the spicy undertones. The floral notes and earthiness have developed nicely. Try this with grilled meats, lamb chops with spring garlic would be a nice match.
