Red wine. Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France. Sustainable. 100% Pinot Noir. "Jouan's 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes has turned out especially well this year, and when all is said and done, it may well prove to be the finest communal appellation in the cellar (the Gevrey Aux Echézeaux normally has that distinction). Unfurling in the glass with a deep but reserved bouquet of red berries, bergamot, woodsmoke and subtle spices, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and unusually concentrated, with tangy acids, velvety tannins and a reserved, tight-knit profile, concluding with a long finish. The concentrating effects of the frost seem to have delivered a Jouan Chambolle that's truly built for the long haul, and I would counsel cellaring this for the better part of a decade." — 90+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (April 2019)
