White wine. Südsteiermark DAC, Austria. Organic. 100% Weissburgunder. Kept on the lees in 700-liter casks for 18 months, without the addition of sulfur and was bottled without filtration. It is a very pure and salty Pinot Blanc with clear, ripe and intense fruit aromas on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, round and elegant on the aromatic palate, with a remarkable acidity and finesse. The 2016 vintage was marked by early bud-break due to a warm dry fall and winter followed by a large frost which produced dramatically reduced yields. The wines show fruit forward with the concentration one would expect from a reduced crop. That said the wines are all still balanced and elegant. Pair this wine with richer white meat or seafood preparations, such as a veal chop or roasted monkfish.
